FAQs
Invisalign treatment is the process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. No brackets and wires, and none of the restrictions that come with metal braces.
Your Invisalign dentist does an examination takes mould or scan of your teeth and plan your straightening. Good thing is the 3D plan can be shared with you as well.
Invisalign clear aligners are made of flexible plastic — specifically, a patented thermoplastic material called SmartTrack created exclusively for Invisalign treatment.
Your Invisalign dentist will create a unique, digital treatment plan that maps out the exact movements of your teeth. Your Invisalign clear aligners are then designed to apply the right amount of force to the right place at the right time based on your plan. Your Invisalign dentist will be with you every step of the way to monitor your progress and ensure your aligners fit correctly.
The length of treatment depends on multiple factors, like how complex your case is and how often you wear your aligners. Your Invisalign dentist will determine exactly how long your treatment could take based on your specific needs. On average, Invisalign treatment time is 4 to 6 months, though you can start seeing results in a matter of weeks.
Cost varies depends on the complexity of the treatment, also amongst different practitioners. On average it’s between £1500-£5500
If not planned properly or patient does not follow the instruction, it can damage teeth and supporting gum and bone. Also, teeth can get sore due to the movement particularly after wearing a new set, which is normal.
Generally speaking, Invisalign advantages over braces are:
- Less damage to tooth surface
- Teeth will be easier to clean and less plaque retention
- Invisible and discrete
- Patient can see stimulated result before treatment
- Measurements are computer calculated , so easier for dentist to plan
- Patient needs to see dentist less often and normally there is no emergency such as broken brace or wire
Patients need to wear aligners 22 hours a day, so requires cooperation. Patients cannot eat with them on.
It could be easier to treat some complex cases with braces, or sometimes dentists can combine braces with aligners to get the best results
